The Nightsilver Promise by Annaliese Avery, Cover Illustrations by Nat Smillie, Published by Scholastic UK
“An epic, fate-fighting adventure like no other. A stunningly imagined new series destined to be a classic.”
Page 11 Sentence…”Paisley looked beyond this at the series of symbols and detailed explanations, she translated each one quickly, they told her what type of person she was and how the cogs of her track would turn.”
Three words to describe The Nightsilver Promise…Re-imagined, dragon-touched and wondrous.
This book is uniquely thrilling, set in a world similar to ours in some ways but with vast legendary and scientific differences. Tracks are chosen and mapped out onto the wrists of people and they know of their fate early. When Paisley, the main character, learns of her own destiny, she is distressed and vows to protect her brother at all costs.
Dax is in constant danger as he is dragon-touched. One whole leg is covered with dragon scales and this must be kept a secret. The entire plot is so well thought and threaded with mystery, interlinked with dragon myths but with added touches of magic and warriors! When their mother is presumed killed in an explosion, Paisley and Dax are in immediate danger and are determined to to find their mother alive, not believing the story.
I was glued to this book as the plot thickened and became dangerous, as characters I trusted became the enemy and as Paisley bravely turned each page in her first adventure.
