Holly Rivers returns to Little Penhallow in this story with the Shalloo and Brock children….and I couldn’t be happier to be back in the Animail Menagerie.
It’s summer and a new ice cream van has pulled into town, Two Scoops. Run by Pem and Perdita, along with daughter Dotty, the ice cream is a huge hit, launching itself firmly into the community. Dotty and Orinthia become quite close and it is their friendship which blossoms most in this story.
When news of the Golden Udder Award is shared, the families unite to create the best ice cream the world has ever seen in order to win this prestigious new accolade. Discovering that someone wishes them to fail is a shock but there are too many incidents to ignore.
Orinthia, Dotty and Pem set sail on the familiar Mollusca, but quickly suspect they are being spyed upon. Monsieur Dubois knows an awful lot about them considering their act, ice cream and plans have been kept top secret. The girls are determined not to let anything else happen on their trip before the awards ceremony.
However, one break in leads to disaster and the girls are swept into an outrageously brilliant adventure in Norway. Does trouble follow Orinthia….one might wonder.
A brilliantly exciting story and I was even more impressed by the mentions of another favourite character, Demelza! She has been tinkering and inventing for Pem and Pandora to help their ice cream business.
I loved being back with these families and their adventures and hope there may be more sometime down the line! Or perhaps Demelza will have a new story? So much love for Holly River’s stories!
