Books about animals continuously fly off the shelves in our libraries. Readers are endlessly fascinated by the creatures we share Earth with, and they just can’t read enough facts. There is also a large camp of readers fascinated by the creatures of centuries gone by- the dinosaurs! These new books would be ideal for readers with a thirst for more knowledge!
With a handy guide on how to use this book, animal loving readers will travel the world from the safety of their favourite reading spot! Each animal featured has a map, danger status and size comparison plus plenty of facts about their favourite food and unique bodies. The pages are colourful and have a jungle themed border and throughout the book you will find “It’s Wild” facts sharing interesting facts about some of the jungle animals. Each section begins with a “How to Spot” page and then launches in to each animal. I have spotted several new to me creatures within the pages of this book and can imagine I will return to this book time and again. This is a series I wholeheartedly support. We have “pointless” animals and “ridiculous” animals and now we have “atrocious” animals. Written with humour and the absolute best titles for the animals, these factual books will enthral readers. The animals in this volume have bad reputations for being fearsome but as you read, you discover why they employ such dangerous defences. From reptiles and arachnids to cats and bears, there is an animal for everyone here. Short bursts of text explain each creature while the funny labels and new Latin names will provide entertainment. A non fiction series with plenty of personality and brilliant illustrations. I hope this series continues to grow! The T-Rex is likely the most widely known dinosaur. He is known for his size, carnivorous eating habits and size- of his massive body and tiny arms. In this book, part narrative, part non fiction, the T-Rex gets a makeover. Using the evolution of discoveries, scientific information and new evidence, the book follows the makeover of T-Rex from his posture to his arms and to the debate of whether he had feathers or not. Readers will find this funny and factual! I think the illustrations are fantastic and make the entire idea of giving the T-Rex a makeover plausible. It shows what might have been as, in actual fact, we cannot be truly sure! This is a hardback A to Z of dinosaurs with plenty of facts, illustrations and technical vocabulary to keep future palaeontologists engaged. The first 30 pages are dedicated to filling in the gaps for new readers. Covering the basics like eating, size, body shapes, survival skills and body armour, I learned quite a lot from these pages. With the A to Z, it is an opportunity to explore dinosaurs individually and learn facts specific to them. I flipped through to the familiar and widely known dinos, and then went back to explore the ones new to me, of which there were plenty. The balance of this book is met with great chunks of text and use of maps, colourful block of information and illustrations of each dinosaur. Ideal for readers age 7+!
