Grim Falls Academy Blog Tour!

Welcome to Grim Falls Academy! This new, illustrated series is perfect for Autumn and ideal for readers branching out into new reading adventures.

In the first book, we meet Seb as he runs late for school. We meet his best friend, Victor as Seb rescues him. We also meet Khamun, a likely bully for Seb and Victor. They are all unique and different monsters- Seb is a werewolf, Victor a vampire and Khamun, an Egyptian mummy.

When a new girl, Tabby, shows up, everyone thinks she is a human. But Seb and Victor discover the truth later in the story. First they must avoid being captured and eaten by the teachers who have suddenly become even more dangerous than before. Something sinister is happening in the dining hall!

Can the trio find a way to save the day before the school inspector shuts them down?

As you enter into their second adventure, you begin to learn a lot more about Tabby and what her powers or abilities might be. You also see Seb and Victor have an argument but make up. Their friendship is brilliant and you can see how they use each other’s strengths to help their adventures. When Dr Fink brings in some baby glob spawn for the students to take care of, he doesn’t realise what events will take place as they grown and become more demanding.

I love the monsters as characters. Their friendships are heartwarming and they are kind and good students, never willing to leave anyone behind.

In book three, the trio find themselves battling a moveable maze, an angry troll and a loss of powers. We also find out more about what powers Tabby might have. These have been changing throughout the books and some answers may finally reveal themselves.

As an initial trilogy, these work so well. I hope there will be many more books to come and that we delve into each character’s family and story a bit more.

They are short, easy to read and thoroughly enjoyable- not to mention incredibly colourful and filled with atmospheric illustrations. I wish I could attend Grim Falls Academy- now what monster could I be?
