What a cracking story this is! Mary-Kate has anxiety over specific things, sometimes words, or sitting backwards, beginnings and endings. But she has her mother, The Prof and they are on their way to Woolington Well where her archeologist mother is hunting for some relics in the town square.
They are here to try and save the old well from the rich landowner who wishes to erect a giant shopping centre in the very small village. As they arrive and spot saucers of milk everywhere, Mary-Kate senses there is more to this town than thought. In the hotel, the owner is hiding behind the desk- but what is he hiding from?
Knowing Mary-Kate’s anxiety, her mother gently encourages her to think scientifically and to ask questions.
This is a brilliant start to a new series of gentle monster hunting….some hunt to hate while others hunt to help.
The mystery surrounding the Woolington Wyrm is gently solved by Mary-Kate and new chatty friend Arabella. They ask questions, listen to those around them and put together a theory. Watching Mary-Kate step out of her comfort zone to help those around her is wonderful and I can’t wait to read more of this series.
I also loved that Mary-Kate preferred a specific ratio of glitter and sparkle in her wardrobe!
