It’s so great to be back in Belle-on-Sea with Bridget,Tom, Pascal and Mr Vanderpuff. Lots happened in the first adventure when we met Bridget and her extraordinary skills and talents so I was pleased to see a sequel published so quickly!
In this adventure, there are rumours of a ghost train coming to disrupt the town’s big celebration, Night of the Hungry Ghosts parade but Bridget has her suspicions over what is real and what is legend. New arrival to the town, the Earl of Bombarton Hall, Lord Dare is an interesting character and one who adds an extra dimension to the events.
Bridget is still particularly bad at baking but her unique creations always come in handy- just not for solving hunger. Her quirky style, mad hair and inventing abilities are brilliant assets to her as a main character and she is so likeable and fun.
With plenty of adventure to keep Bridget and Tom in trouble, this exciting story is an absolute belter. It certainly appeals to me as a fan of the series but with enough packed in to fill readers in, you could easily read this as a stand-alone.
I can’t wait to see where the author takes us next!
