Guy Bass is a favourite amongst the Year 3 and 4 crowd so when this was offered to me, I quickly jumped at the chance. The cover is beautiful and one that will capture the imaginations of children and grown ups alike.
The story is set in a world where humans have decided to find a new home off the planet Earth. Scrap is a robot who has made a lovely home for himself amongst the rubbish left behind by the departing people. He has been there for 10 long years and he wants to feel that sense of belonging we all crave. It is unlikely due to his loyalty!
As I was reading, I got very clear Star Wars vibes as well as Wall-E vibes. Loving both of those movies, I was delighted to see the illustrations throughout that really highlight the setting and characters.

Full of peril, adventure, danger and working together with unlikely friends, readers will be on the edge of their seats throughout. It was heart-racing at times and I was constantly waiting for the next bit of trouble for Paige, Gnat and Scrap.
An epic class read, children will not want to miss a single day of school while this is being read! Loved it and can’t wait to recommend it further!
