This is the third book in the Super Questers series and each one is packed full of learning, quests and puzzles to solve. When the first book was published I worked with a Reception and Year 1 class to test out the book and each activity.
The students loved the characters and their transformation into super-heroes. They loved getting involved in the story, feeling as though they were part of the action themselves.
With book two and now three, the same group of children love seeing their favourite characters return all the while learning about something relevant and very grown up. I think that is another appeal to young readers. While colourful, fun and engaging, these books are also filled with facts, questions and challenges facing the world today.
As you read the book, you are challenged to help the questers advance through their adventure. In this book, they are learning about renewable energy sources and the environment. Admittedly, this is an area I am not overly familiar with so I learned plenty as I read and worked through the story.
Another reason these books are so popular is because they use stickers to help solve each quest and I know my students loved this aspect. I also found the full colour illustrations to be perfect in appealing to the intended reader.
I think these are an absolute must have for KS1- fun, engaging, colourful and full of STEM learning opportunities!
