The Ever-Changing Earth by Grahame Baker-Smith

Written and illustrated by Grahame Baker-Smith, Published by Templar Books

I first discovered Grahame Baker-Smith with his book Farther, an inspiring story of fatherhood, where the illustrations speak volumes. His books are award winning, insightful and thought-provoking.

The Ever-changing Earth is a beautiful journey of the changes our world has undergone as viewed from the eyes of a child. Almost narrative in its approach, Kûn is a young boy who loves dinosaurs. He imagines life before the famed asteroid that changed the face of our planet.

As we travel through time and space, we are given the most intense and stunning double page spreads bringing the history of the earth to life. This incredible journey leads us to Solveig, a young girl who swims in a volcanic pool looking up at Aurora Borealis spanning the sky.

I can’t actually do this book the justice it deserves but I know it should be in every classroom for children to explore in their own time.
