I do hope this will become a series of mysteries led by twins, Merry and Spike!
Twins, Merry and Spike were born in different months and years and the clocks in their house stopped at the exact times of their birth. This sets up the story of these incredible sisters. Clocks go haywire when they are around and they have discovered numerous talents between them. One can speed time forward while the other can slow or reverse it. They can have visions of the past and future and together they can pause time for one minute. A very clever plot line brings them to an old and grand house with secrets behind closed doors.
At Fox House, they meet Nanny Natter, Miss Burdock and Ben. They don’t properly meet the lady of the house, Lady Belmont, as she hides in her room and has done since the mysterious death of her husband two years ago.
Ben fills the girls in on some of the mysterious events of the house and the girls instantly find themselves wanting to discover more. They use their skills to find clues that were missed and hidden from everyone else. Hot on the trail to discover secrets is Alastair, heir to the house and a quite nasty little creature. He is trying to get Ben removed and is sneaking about in Lady Belmont’s rooms.
A proper mystery to solve, two girls with amazing talents and a dangerous villain to accost. I could not put this down and sincerely hope there will be more from Merry and Spike!
