What a mind blowing adventure taking place on the streets of and below Paris! Zélie, a young maid on Rue Morgue, is constantly accused of being a witch by the other staff. Mainly due to have two different coloured eyes! Though she is not a witch, she has intelligence, determination and boldness. Qualities not encouraged in girls of her time.
By chance, she meets Jules, a sewer sweeper, holding a locket that once belonged to her father. Unsure of his whereabouts, she snatches the locket and a new friendship begins, hesitantly at first but growing in trust with each chase, dangerous cloaked figure and search for the truth.
It’s a fantastic and fascinating mystery, involving a legend. One that makes your loved ones perish while you hoard wealth and riches. Hunted, Zelie and Jules need to find the stone and set it free before the Brotherhood of Blood find them!
I read this in one sitting as each turn of the page brings more excitement and mystery!
