Suhana is visiting the Houses of Parliament with some other students after entering a competition to design Christmas cards for a local MP. The headteacher, Mr Hayes has taken a dislike to Suhana and makes her life harder. While en route, the group spot young protesters and Suhana becomes interested in why and how they are protesting. Another teacher explains about the Suffragettes, who fought tirelessly for women to have the right to vote in the early 1900’s.
As Suhana, Mia and Ayaan complete the questions, Suhana’s phone alarm starts to go off and then the world starts spinning.
When the trio open their eyes and look around, they can sense something has changed but they can’t quite believe they have travelled back in time. The full story emerges and they discover they are in 1911, just in time to watch the King’s coronation and a protest of Suffragettes and Suffragists.
Suhana discovers some Indian women in the protest and learns more about their role in the movement of votes for women. Suhana is thrilled to see herself represented in this story and is determined to learn more about others like them.
Suhana’s phone gave the trio a time limit and with time passing quickly they must head back to Parliament. Of course, it doesn’t go quite so smoothly and they need to problem solve and work together to figure things out.
This is the start of a brilliant new series, one that aims to bring history to life through the meeting of key people and key moments in history. Suhana has been recruited into a secret society and I want to join along with her to discover more.
