Hallie and her mum move around fixing up houses and selling them on before moving again. Hallie has had enough of losing friends and chooses to lock new opportunities away. When she meets Mila, her new neighbour, she dismisses her and instead makes friends with Gerry, a rather unfortunate ghost with an unfortunate nervous habit.
This new house has attracted some attention in the form of Edgar Dolas, an archeologist intent on something hidden in the cellar. Hallie suspects he is up to something but in typical form, her mother doesn’t believe her.
Hallie and Gerry form a plan when they discover Edgar’s secret and it is all going well until they are discovered. It puts them all into incredible danger. Edgar is cruel and determined and Hallie and Gerry are no match for him.
This is a fantastic story, quick paced and filled with friendship, mystery and hope for new beginnings. The shorter length lends itself nicely to readers wanting a full story without it feeling too daunting in length.
