It may only be October but I am so ready for a festive story, especially one that features mince pie picnics and feisty females ruling the festive world!
Tinsel was an absolute favourite festive story and to see Sibeal Pounder write more, I was thrilled. In this story, we have a young witch Gryla who, along with the entire witch population, has been banished to the Mince Pie Isles. It all went wrong in the human world, with Christmas being celebrated every day, instead of one day a year. Anti-Christmas behaviour, dress and decor are now punished by Krampuses, a name that will be familiar to Tinsel fans.
Gryla becomes a very important witch for two reasons…,one- the book that must be guarded carefully has chosen her as the next guardian, and two, she has just been snatched from her home and taken to the Christmas every day world she has been dreaming of.
When she gets there, the first hours are amazing but she soon sees through the forced festivities and realises her coven were right, you can’t truly enjoy Christmas every day!
What follows is a fantastic fight between good and evil, Elves, witches, snowmen and Krampuses- it’s entirely brilliant!
A perfect read for October, November or December- this will help you to see how special Christmas truly is once a year and to realise it’s the family and friends around you, not the gifts. It will also make you crave mince pies- good thing they are already in stores!
Happy Reading!
