Picture Book Perfect

There are so many gorgeous picture books to showcase! Check them out and happy reading!

I can’t quite believe it has been 20 years since we first met boy and his friend Penguin. Now they are back, not catching a star, but hiding one. Star, Boy and Penguin love a good game of hide and seek though star has always been too easy to find. During one game, Boy and Penguin really have to work hard to find Star and where they finally discover Star is unexpected and a joy.
This is a perfect story to share with families going through a separation. In this story, while the parents won’t be living together anymore, they guarantee their love will not change. While they adapt to new homes, hiding places and adventures, there are a lot of emotions to contend with. Over time, the children adapt to new ways of being a family, one where love still shines through. It’s beautifully written and joyously illustrated.
A charming story of sharing and being one of many who must share everything. My husband is one of four and he understood this book perfectly. I am an only child and so I never had to share! It was a loving exploration of how justice, fairness and equal pieces must play a role in every mealtime. The illustrations are gorgeous and even though the justice was a huge element, they also highlight the love and care the siblings have for each other.
A delightful story of a found adventure on a new planet. The spaceman lands to gather soil samples to label and file but finds his spaceship stolen. This strange planet has beautiful wildlife, strange creatures and an adventure the spaceman didn’t know he needed. Discovering the lost rocket, the spaceman has a decision to make…stay or go? This striking story, both in text and illustration, is one that will provoke some interesting conversations.
This is one of the most beautiful books I have in my collection. With the perfect pairing of words and illustrations, this heartfelt and heartwarming book is one to share with young readers. A young girl has a special relationship with her grandfather and we watch them enjoy the seasons around their ancient oak tree. When both the oak and her grandfather suffer through the winter, Ava must continue to be strong and have hope. Love, loss and seasons are explored in this gentle story.
This is a stunning book filled with page upon page of wondrous illustrations. Promised to be a reimagining of a true story of seeds being taken on Apollo 14 into space. One seed was so inspired by the sight of the moon that it aimed high from the depths of the earth. It takes some of the animals who live near the tree to show it the beauty of the light. This is such a wonder filled tale about the beauty of the world around us.
