‘Til Death by Busayo Matuluko

This book is not just a mystery but an insight into Nigerian culture, food, relationships and wedding traditions. Lara and her family have travelled to Lagos for her cousin’s wedding- all of the events that play a part of Yoruba tradition.

What she discovers is that Dérin, the bride to be, has been receiving cryptic, threatening messages, is being trolled online and an ex-boyfriend is sniffing around. That would be enough to send any bride into chaos but there is much more happening in and around this family that you discover.

It’s a thrilling and perfectly pitched mystery for teens with both humour and danger mixed in. What it also has is an incredible cast of characters, many family members but others on the periphery who play a key role in the events surrounding the weddings.

Luckily for this family, Lara is a true crime fanatic and is keen to study criminology and forensics at university. She must sift through the evidence and stack it up to solve the mystery before someone gets killed!

I was absolutely hooked and as I immersed deeper into the story, I had several theories-all of which were proved wrong! While I am a massive fan of mysteries, and therefore quite biased, I cannot recommend this highly enough and will certainly be adding it to my top picks for 2025!
