A new series from the undisputed queen of middle grade horror is here and it will certainly keep you glued to your seat, not least because the woods around the town of Hazard are a dangerous place to roam.
When Travis, Zayd, Seline and Danielle are put into a group for their history project, it is with disdain from all four. They don’t exactly get along and there is history between Travis and Dani- things they haven’t yet worked out.
When Seline chooses for the group to study the legend of Blood-Eyed Mary, it is met with horror as this local legend has a number of disappearances and potential murders associated with it. It is decided that they will head into Mary’s Cauldron, a deep part of the woods to gather evidence.
Believing it to be a legend, it is a surprise to find themselves under attack from Mary. She is quick, agile and strong but who is she really and why does she seem to stare at Travis so intently?
There are a lot of intense scenes of danger and chases which keep the reader’s blood rate up and funny moments between the characters where they try to keep their spirits up.
I loved Club Loser and have high hopes for this quartet in solving the local legends around Hazard!
