What a brilliant start to a new series from Claire Powell. Marty Moose (not actually a moose but a mouse) is starting his new job as a Post-Mouse and is very excited. His Great Aunt Ada was one of the best before she retired.
Marty heads to the office and meets Cyril who has been employee of the month for 27 consecutive months. He also meets the rest of the team who seem to sneer at Cyril. Marty is given his post bag and told to leave no parcel undelivered. He is also told to watch out for rotten blueberries- whatever that might mean.
Along his route, he delivers letters and whistles happily alomg until get gets a bit lost in the rabbit warren where the numbers are not where you think they should be. Luckily, Marty meets Nibbles Frizzby who is more than bit bonkers. But together they deliver the post.
However they also seem to become stuck in a booby-trapped garden caught between feuding toad siblings, and they are discovering some clues about why Cyril is employee of the month so frequently.
Will Marty Moose be brave enough to tackle these obstacles? Will his first day at the post office also be his last?
Delightfully illustrated and perfect for small hands, this is the perfect style story for younger readers wanting a bit of adventure, chaos and friendship in a tale. I am already counting down to Marty’s next adventure- The Great Stamp-ede!
