This book is the third in this series featuring Miss Mary-Kate Martin and her Guide to Monsters. Discovering a series that leaps to the top of your TBR is the best feeling! When this arrived earlier this week, I immediately put it on my bedside table for the evening.
It didn’t take me long to begin my new adventure with Mary-Kate and her Granny to a castle in Scotland. Mary-Kate discovers that her Granny is also a monster-hunter (the good kind) just like her. They are heading to a special conference…Mary-Kate squeezes her stress ball a few times to centre herself and take in this news.
Upon arrival, it becomes clear that there are two monsters within the castle grounds- one in the lake and another thought to be extinct. The Bonkillyknock Beast has two legends attached to it-one where it brings good fortune and another where it is thought to bring disaster. Mary-Kate believes in one of these and along with her two friends, Millicent and Simon, sets off to find it and help it.
These stories are absolutely brilliant, so charming and easy to get stuck into. I really hope there are more to come- Mary-Kate is such a unique character, and one who some readers will really relate to.
