This is an incredible story and it seems to be the beginning of a new mystery series featuring Cassia Thorne. Cassia lives in Fleet Prison with her debt ridden father and sings to earn some small amounts of money.
Cassia wants to write the ballads she sings and begins to gather stories, one in particular that she seems to be hearing a lot, that of missing children from the streets of London.
Cassia, and her friends Teo and Felix begin to uncover some uncomfortable truths about the deep dark, the missing children and secret societies in London. Cassia is bold and brave, not giving up until she finds the answers she seeks. Their lives are in grave danger and those of the taken children as they are hunted by something intensely terrifying.
As Cassia uncovers truths about the society she lives within, she also discovers more about her father and the reasons for their life in Fleet Prison. Believing he doesn’t care about her, she finds their relationship strained but there are hidden depths to him that she will learn.
I loved Cassia and Felix and the storyline was exciting, thrilling and certainly kept me on the edge of my seat. I hope this is the beginning of a new series and eagerly await more from Cassia! The ending was a tempting glimpse into what might come next…
