Any way you slice it by Méabh McDonnell

This is the most charming YA romance filled with humour, friendship, teenage trials and the yummiest food in a book!

Carrie and Dara seem to hate each other, fighting and getting disqualified from a baking competition. This does nothing but fuel their anger towards each other. However, when an opportunity to enter the competition as a team is presented, the pair must find a way to work together and bake delicious goodies.

It isn’t easy, there are many apologies to be made but also, blushing, lingering time together and the briefest moments when it feels they are perched on a cliff edge of a relationship. Carrie is dealing with an unwell mother, Dara still grieves the loss of his mother and has a fraught home life but once they begin to find a rhythm and pattern of baking together, they come to see each other as more than adversaries…something much more.

This is just the loveliest YA enemies to friends story and I loved every page, it was joyous, tense, heart wrenching and celebratory!
