Mason’s life is at rock bottom. He’s in desperate need of a lucky break to turn things around. He needs a miracle. He and his father have moved to the city after Pa left a job he hated. It was Mason’s idea to start an ice cream business, and he has dreams of making lots of new, exciting flavours. But all they have is a wooden cart to sell from. They make the ice cream in their tiny basement roomwhich they can’t afford the rent for. To compound their troubles, the heatwave is melting the ice cream fast and ruining their chances of their business succeeding. But despite the adversity they face, Mason maintains a sense of hope and optimism. He unrelentingly believes things will get better.

His father, however, is dejected and downbeat. He feels like a failure. With the ice cream business in ruins, he’s given up. But Mason has enough determination for them both. He’s akind and selfless boy, and despite yearning for fun and time to enjoy life, he takes on the responsibility of saving their business and their home.

Mason meets feisty young Clem, who lives a carefree life, running errands around the city. She lives in the moment, with no responsibilities, and has freedom from her parents, unlike Mason who feels trapped by his circumstances. Clem sees life very differently from Mason. She doesn’t believe anything good will happen to the likes to her.

On a hot summer’s night, Mason and Clem find themselves at the magical Darlington Manor for a unique wish-making performance beneath the stars. Darlington the Miraculous is a man of great presence and kindness. He has a rare gift of being able manipulate and control water using his mind. He uses his bubble performances to entrap a person’s greatest wish and sends it up to the stars to become a reality. He gives people hope. And nobody needs a wish come true more than Mason.
