Skulkmoor by Hana Tooke

This is a dark and twisty tale of a long held family rivalry! Clementine and Rosie were twins, born together but split apart by a family destined to choose just one heir. Pitted against each other year after year until their murders!

Fifty years later, and the giant estate is shared by Iris and Ted, along with their descendant families from the original twins. Each family lives in one half of Skulkmoor with a dividing wall from garden through house keeping them apart.

The families are plagued with hatred and suspicions on each other, built up over decades of feuds. When Viscount Morvell arrives with his niece Georgie and Kitty, there to take inventory, it is with the firm belief that an heir will finally be chosen. A competition is declared and both families must decide how to impress the viscount to keep their home.

Unfortunately, a series of disasters and tricks allow each family to believe they are being sabotaged by the other, deepening the feud and hatred. Iris and Ted, working separately, discover hidden truths that will change the course of both families.

I absolutely loved Iris and Ted- cousins who are more alike than they are willing to admit. Their stories and determination to save their homes are admirable and they prove that in all great stories, it is the children who save the day!

This kept me on my toes and I was suspecting one character of the sabotage throughout and then Iris and Ted finally began to piece the puzzle together properly and it all became clear.

Hana Tooke’s previous stories are also incredible and I am so thrilled to have had a proof copy of Skulkmoor! Once I started it, I could not put it down.
