This was such a fantastic mystery to read with characters who snuggle into your heart as they try to save their family and their future.
Finnnian, Juniper and Teddy own and live in the Hotel Marvelo, which is owned by their parents. Guests of all shapes, sizes and skills are welcomed in, leaving their magic behind so they can relax, unwind and find peace. When that peace is shattered by a murder (done by the magic meant to be left at the door) the family and hotel guests are thrown into chaos, especially when the owners are arrested for the crime.
Finnian and Juniper begin trying to save their parents immediately, amply aided by the non-verbal but wondrously clever, Teddy. She is always in the right place at the right time! As they interrogate the guests, the reader feels a firm part of the story and begins to hypothesise about “whodunnit”.
I had a sneaking suspicion but it was great to follow the incredible detective story through and to let Juniper, Finnian and Teddy have the limelight.
Such a great cast of characters and my favourite might just be Emily, the griffin- who happens to start the next story in the series just at the end of the book!
