What a fantastic first book in a new series by Catherine Doyle. From the title through to the exciting adventure within, this is a book that will appeal to a wide audience.
Ted is moving with his family to run a hotel. His step-father inherited the Manor House and they are all moving in. Ted will be living with his mum, step-father, step-brother, new baby Hazel and his arch-enemy, Frankie, AKA, his step-sister.
Being of a similar age, they didn’t make a very good first impression on each other and are now enemies. Ted is quiet and loves Lego and reading while Frankie is energetic and loud. However, the pair must find common ground when they discover they can both see the ghosts of Tartarus Hall.
A hilarious adventure begins as the hotel prepares for its grand opening. The duke, leader of the ghost pack, has big plans for the event but Ted and Frankie have a lot of good ideas on how to combat him and the others.
It’s funny, heartwarming and the characters are brilliant. Luke, the older brother loves video games and not bathing, while the parents are fuelled by stress and anger over the mishaps that Ted and Frankie are taking the blame for!
As the first in the series, it really sets the stage for more to come and I cannot wait to plan my next trip to Tartarus Hall!
