This is a unique story and one that young readers will thoroughly enjoy! From treasure hunting to special fish and making new friends along the way, this book has both heart and humour.
Set in California, many of the local residents are treasure seeking- there are rumours of a diamond necklace lost in a shipwreck and a hefty reward for finding it. Cassie is one such treasure hunter- taking her metal detector with her in the hopes of finding the necklace.
She meets TJ, another young seeker and they encounter Blue, a very special fish- one with fear and needing assistance from humans. Amazingly, Blue seems able to understand Cassie and so she wants hee father to help. He is a specialist at the aquarium. However, not every creature belongs in an aquarium.
Cassie will need to make some bold decisions throughout the story and her empathy, understanding and courage make her relatable to readers.
I found this a heartfelt read interspersed with humour and honesty. Cassie and TJ are fantastic and Blue, whose perspective we get to read, propels the story in a unique way.
