This book is already gaining awards and high praise and rightly so. It is a beautiful book, full of myths and legends and a wonderful pairing of a Grandad and his Granddaughter.
Meara’s grandad lives by a large lake with his pet otter, but every once in a while the entire lake vanishes for no apparent reason.
And so begins the wondrous tale of where the water goes with Meara’s curiosity and imagination at the heart of it. Grandad, of course, fuels both of these with his mythical and legendary ideas as well as his questions such as “Do you only believe what you can see?”
Grandad is a wonderful character who prompts Meara to use her imagination, test her theories and to question the world around her. He is laid back with an adventurous spirit. Meara is wonderfully curious and endlessly imaginative in solving the mystery. With her bright red hair and glasses, she is utterly charming.
Completely enchanting and full of rich and wonderful illustrations, this book is sure to be a crowd pleaser. Paddy creates his artwork digitally but it looks as though it was drawn effortlessly. His palette is rich and vibrant and if you check out his shop, I guarantee you will be tempted to purchase a print for your walls!
