Fletcher and the Rainbow by Julia Rawlinson and Tiphanie Beeke, Published by Graffeg
Fletcher is an adorable fox with an unrivalled curiosity. When he spots a beautiful rainbow, Fletcher begins to look closely at the colours of nature around him. In an dazzling journey to find and keep the rainbow, Fletcher is gently introducing readers to the colours of the rainbow and places where these can be found around you, from the red berries on trees to yellow apples and blue harebells. Gentle and stunning illustrations bring to life not only the colours of the rainbow but the gentle heart of Fletcher and his friends. This delightful addition to the Fletcher series of books is a celebration of Autumn and colour. Just beautiful!
Alex and Alex by Ziggy Hanaor and Ben Javens, Published by Cicada Books
I am not sure you will find a more apt book for young readers. Alex and Alex are good friends, they have plenty in common but they are also very different. Keeping gender out of the book allows readers to identify with the activities and the friendship, rather than making the assumption that girls must do one thing and boys another. The use of bright and simple colours ensure the book is aimed to young readers, though older ones will also take value away from their reading. Even when Alex and Alex have a disagreement, as all friends do…they manage to come back together because they really like each other.

I am a primary school teacher, turned librarian. Now I have the title Reading Advocate for ASSET Education Trust, based in Suffolk.
I read constantly and have more books than bookshelves, but I wouldn't have it any other way.
I celebrate reading every day at work and at home with my two children, aged 11 and 9.
I sit on the National Executive Committee for the Federation of Children’s Book Groups and run an OU/UKLA Teachers as Readers group!
