Rani Reports on the Missing Millions

This is such a cleverly designed and well plotted story, leading the reader on a fantastic clue based chase.

Rani and her Nani are spending time together while her parents are on a holiday. These two tend to get into trouble when together and they have been warned to be on their best behaviour. Making a mini list of activities, they find themselves at the art gallery in time for a major announcement. Lord Harrington, recently passed, has created a treasure hunt based on one of the last paintings he created.

The premise is simple- find and solve the clues to find the treasure. Rumours over a hoard of money run wild and possible places where clues might be hidden are overheard. Rani and Nani take a different approach, one that is smart and outside the box. The true reason for taking part is so Rani can write a winning entry to the competition in the local paper. She wants to be an investigative journalist when she grows up and this is her chance. With a new notebook in hand, she and Nani begin plotting and planning and actually start finding clues.

It’s an exciting rush against time as they discover clues, meet adversaries and get stranded in a lighthouse but Nani is always prepared and Rani always thinking. They are a superb pair of detectives and I loved their relationship and love for each other.

I was thrilled to follow their progress through the treasure hunt and their smashing ending but perhaps even better news is that there is more Rani and Nani to come! I cannot wait!
