Glassborn by Peter Bunzl

Four siblings travel to their new home in Fairykeep Cottage with their grieving father, having lost their mother Maria. They are moving to be with Aunt Eliza, their mother’s sister. Hoping for comfort and to ease their father from his grief, the children immediately get drawn in to the stories their mother used to tell them.

The stories are steeped in fairy legend and their father will hear none of it but Cora, the eldest believes firmly in these stories. She and her youngest brother Acton find their way to the grave of their mother where discoveries are made by both- ones that will have a lasting impact on their adventure.

Glassborn follows these four Glass-Belle children as they learn about their family, discover fairyland for themselves and try to break a curse that plagues their entire family.

Action, adventure, trials and tribulations befall the four siblings as they navigate fairyland and the Fairy Queen, their great-great grandmother. Will their own magic stir in order to help them? Can they trick the Dead King and will they make it home before the 13th hour of the solstice?

This is a poetically written story, filled with fairy legend and snippets of wisdom so honest and true that they appeal to readers of today as well.

Magicborn was the first in this series. My review for that is below!
