Evenfall by Alexander Armstrong

I have been a fan of Alexander Armstrong and his voice for some time, and when I first encountered his debut, I was skeptical. He is talented but would this transfer to writing as well?

The answer is a simple yes! His debut is fizzing with legend, family, friendship and the power good has over evil. Constant action, intense moments of peril and a trio of friends who must set the balance right.

Sam lives with his dad but neither of them have been the same since the death of his mum. Home life is sad and Sam’s dad, Jake, seems to be getting worse all the time. Jake’s friend, Ken is often there to help but Sam isn’t always sure about Ken’s presence.

As Sam nears his 13th birthday, he begins to feel a rush of energy, a connection to the world and a strong fizzing in his chest and this is just the beginning. Sam will discover that he is a Tempest, descendant of his mother’s legendary family who helped control the balance of good and evil through storytelling.

Within the span of a few days, Sam’s world is changed completely and he will make some bold and harrowing decisions to save the lives of his friends and family. Behind the destruction is a truly evil force, one that wishes to rid the world of its goodness.

Intense and thrilling, I powered through this. The only unfortunate element was the ending, where I now need to know what happens next and have to wait!
