Woodland Explorers Club- Shyla’s Wood Wide Web

Ewa Jozefkowicz writes the most enchanting stories! In Shyla’s Wood Wide Web, we are back with the Woodland Explorer’s Club! This intrepid group of young nature explorers are all best friends with a desire to make the world a better place through helping nature.

We first met them all in Benji’s story and now we get to know Shyla’s a bit more. It’s her birthday and she is given a truly special gift that once belonged to her Nani, a pair of binoculars. These have a special message written around the eyepiece, “A good pair of binoculars is like a passport to another world”.

When Shyla uses them, she discovers there is much more to the world around her than she could see.  Spotting some flitting shapes, she is drawn to them and the group discover a fairy ring, mushrooms growing in a perfectly formed circle.

This discovery leads them to understand there is too much pollution in the nearby stream and they set off to clean it up.

The entire story is hopeful, joyous and determined to make the world a better place by showing readers how small steps can have a big impact. Each character is brought to life and the friendships between them all are so lovely.
