Bumble & Snug and the Angry Pirates by Mark Bradley- Blog Tour

I feel privileged to be closing the blog tour for this wonderful new graphic novel series. I am a recently converted, yet massive fan of all things graphic novels and the increase in titles over the past few years is welcome and greatly supported.

Bumble & Snug and the Angry Pirates is the first in this new series. The introductions to the characters are fantastic and although I love Bumble’s enthusiasm and love for everything, I feel I am more Snug. Snug’s favourite place is the library- how can a librarian disagree with that?

When Bumble and Snug set out on an adventure, they have no idea that by the end of the day, they will have found treasure, sang a lullaby and attended a Pirate Tea party…they will also have felt worried, scared and angry. They will also have helped each other and some new friends learn how to deal with these emotions.

Though the adventure is fantastic, kids will also relate to the emotions running throughout this tale. From Bumble’s enthusiasm to Snug’s worries, their anger over their situation and fear in confronting someone, these are all emotions we deal with regularly. Kids will understand and empathise with the characters while giggling at the story.

The bright, bold illustrations are fantastic and really allow the reader to immerse themselves in to the tale. I can see this being a huge hit for children aged 5+ and will certainly be found within my school libraries.
