As part of my role within the library service, I have started to do more ordering for the libraries and it is such an exciting part of the job. I am helped as publishers kindly highlight new and exciting books, not just for my blog but for the county library service!
These would make excellent additions to any library- public, school or home!
Rewild this Book illustrated by Lizzie Lomax, Published by Nosy Crow in collaboration with the National Trust
From simple drawing activities to exploring nature around you, this is the ideal book for Spring and Summer. Grab a few supplies and snacks and get active- whether you decide to start on page 1 or delve into the middle. Super illustrations and brilliant ideas fill the pages. Printed on eco-friendly paper, this book is entirely useable- so get messy and don’t worry if a page falls in the mud! A great book to gift young nature lovers!
The World’s Last Mammoth and other Missing Marvels by Mike Barfield and Franziska Höllbacher, Published by Templar Books
This clever book is perfect for fans of non-fiction as it feels very graphic novel in style but it is filled to the brim with fascinating facts, tales and history! From the Hanging Gardens of Babylon to Amelia Earhart’s disappearance this book is an exciting trip through the missing and lost items of history. Exciting and fun to read, this book is sure to inspire a new generation of non-fiction fans. There are so many historical facts, I was mesmerised by them all!
Next Stop: The Future by Tom Jackson and Irma Ruggiera, Published by Buster Books
This is such a timely book for young readers as the world embraces technology and science in new and wonderful ways. From seeing astronauts orbit the moon and understanding the technology behind that through to robots, smart cities and new ways of powering them, there is so much to learn from this book. I thought the illustrations were a perfect fit for the science and tech within. This would be a great book for a classroom!
The Animal Detectives by Moira Butterfield and Merle Goll, Published by Buster Books
I was particularly excited by this title as we created a summer reading programme based on spied and detectives! I promptly ordered extra copies of this for the summer. Join Harriet Whiskerton and Vince Van Shell as they explore suspicious animal behaviour through a series of crimes! It’s an ingenious book to help readers delve into the weird and wonderful sides of nature and animals! It’s filled with fantastic illustrations and clever cases!
